Frequently Asked Questions

What is the

Sunday worship schedule?

*9:00 AM — Church School in the Religious Education Wing

10:00 AM — Worship Service in the Sanctuary

*classes meet September – April

Which door should I use?

The main entrance (A) is on the South side of the building on West 5th St. A large staircase leads up to the main doors and the sanctuary.

Just west of the main entrance (still on West 5th Street) is the ground level Entrance (B) that is wheelchair accessible with an automatic door opener. Once inside there is an elevator or are stairs leading up to the sanctuary and down to the basement level fellowship hall (Pilgrim Hall).

Entrance (C) on the West side of the building off the alley takes you into our Religious Education Wing. The classrooms, nursery, library/lounge and choir rooms are located there.

There is also the Northeast Entrance (D) off Walnut Street.

Can I participate in Communion?

All are invited to participate in our open Communion, even if not baptized or a member.

The communion table is not ours, but is Christ's table. It is our church's tradition to drink the juice as soon as it is received, but hold the piece of bread until after is has been served to all, waiting for the Pastor's cue to eat together.

Thus, we symbolize both our separate acceptance of Christ's fellowship and unity in Christ.

What is available for my children?

CHILDREN (Preschool–8th Grade) may attend Church School on Sundays at 9:00 AM from September - April.

YOUTH (9th–12th Grade) may attend Senior High Youth Group, which meets every other Sunday at 9:00 AM and the 1st Wednesday of the month at 6:30 PM during the Church School year.

Children of all ages are welcome in the worship service.

We have a moment for children during the service and encourage children to be involved in worship.  Nursery care is available for infant to pre school-aged children at parents discretion.

Children may not worship like adults, but they are growing in understanding and learning to take their places in the church family.  Some fidget, giggle, get noisy, and wiggle.  Even so, they are learning:

  • that it's important to come to this place each Sunday;
  • that they are part of a this special church family;
  • that the sights, sounds, and feels of this sanctuary are good, though not always understandable;
  • that they should participate in song, in prayer, and in offering.

Children are part of this congregation, and they should be among the worshipping people.  Of course we do not want children to be disruptive of other's worship experience.  Together we can find ways to enhance a child's experience and care for them if they are having a bad day.  We value your child's participation in worship.  No matter who you are, or where you are on life's journey, you are welcome here!

Is there Nursery care available?

Nursery care is available during Sunday morning activities for infants, toddlers, to pre school-aged children.  The Nursery is supervised with an adult Nursery Attendant and volunteer help.

Please sign your child in on the clipboard provided when dropping off, then sign them out when picking them up afterwards.

The Nursery is located in the Religious Education Wing. Ushers are available to help with directions.
